“A lot of people suffered this year due to the drop in the price of bitcoin and other first-generation cryptocurrencies, which aren’t backed by assets,” notes Alex Konanykhin , executive director of Unicoin. "We’d like to make Christmas more agreeable by presenting a next-generation currency that’s backed by assets, that’s audited, files public reports and pays dividends." With these words, Unicoin has launched its campaign, The Best Gift of All. The initiative allows people to send a gift card worth 100 unicoins to friends and relatives. Currently, 100 unicoins have a value of approximately $40 US dollars, but that figure is forecast to rise to $4,000 in 2027. The company notes that the gift card has no charge for the person who sends it, and there’s no limit in number: you can give a card to as many people as you wish, with no condition or special requirement.

With more and more people interested in new forms of digital money, the campaign aims to consolidate a “crypto community” through values associated with visibility and backing, qualities that set Unicoin apart from the so-called first-generation cryptocurrencies. A special episode of Unicorn Hunters dedicated to Unicoin describes the currency’s main traits and forecasts its future value. It also analyzes concepts such as “securitized asset” and “floating asset” in a didactic way and explains how the currency is backed by emerging companies with high growth potential.

After the collapse of the exchange platform FTX, experts agree that the cryptocurrency market will recover but that it may be the end of the era of “opaque currencies”; that is, of currencies that aren’t backed by assets

In stark contrast, Unicoin has been gaining recognition internationally since its presentation as the official currency of Unicorn Hunters. Launched in May 2021, Unicorn Hunters is described by the magazine Forbes as “the most emblematic business show in recent times”. Part of a disruptive genre dubbed enrichtainment, the program connects with innovators that boast high growth potential in sectors like biotechnology, renewable energy, fitness and telemedicine, among others.
